Behind The B-Sides

Ive been getting a lot of good responses from my Mixtape "Bootlegs & B-Sides" & first off I want to thank everyone who took the time to listen to me & spread the word. A lot of hard work went into the concept for this tape. I purposely chose old 90s beats & rapped like I was in the 90s to give you that feeling you get from listening to classic gangster rap. My original music still has some of these elements but if you thought I was trapped in the 90s,it was just for this tape. One of the main questions I've been getting is WHO MADE THE BEATS!! These beats were ALL INSTRUMENTALS. Part of my reasoning for choosing obscure instrumentals was to serve as a history lesson for new comers to rap music & make it flow like an original album. Ive compiled a list to all of the songs off my mix tape as well as gave you some background information to the songs. Thanks again for listening & if you haven't got your free stickers yet, get em fast because you don't want to miss these giveaways! Congratulations to   on winning the Gangsters In Brooklyn Giveaway Jay-Z Concert tickets,I had a blast in NY

The intro to bootlegs & B-Sides might be the hardest 1 to find.It was snagged from the credit roll off the Welcome To Deathrow Documentary.

The "Ready to die" beat  was lifted from the Wiseguys - In the Company of Killaz CD & track was called "Wiseguys". Like I said, this was concept mixtape and a lot of thought went into the creation of it so the easter egg for "Ready for Die" is that the song Wiseguys was the 2nd track off their album so I placed it as the 2nd song on mine as well.

"Mo money Mo murder" was always one of my favorite videos & Ive been holding on to this instrumental for a while now.It all just kind of fell in place at the right time. I put my own little twist to it and made "Money,Murder"

When DJ Dirtty 1st reached out to me (YEARS AGO) we were cultivating plans on a mixtape over all N.W.A. instrumentals. Bootlegs& B-Sides was the birth child of that so I still wanted to correlate the original ideas of that tape so I used the classic Dre & RBX joint "High Power". Its a whole nother story how the song "Lil Beezy" came to life but I'll save that for the video.

"Role Model" was a powerful song to me because it explains how its so easy for our youth to get caught up in street life. Other than athletes & entertainers I can't think of anyone else who actually come back to the hood they were raised in & explain their story of beating the odds. I see Doctors at the bank all the time hopping out of their Mercedes Benz & the only thing they will tell you is "Keep up the hard work & 1 day you will be successful as me"...Yeah fuck you & that message. When I bought my 1st pack decided I wanted to be an entrepreneur, my mentor showed me every small detail to creating a product, supplying the demand , & how to account for profits and losses from being your own boss. DMG's "You Don't Hear me Doe" was the perfect backdrop for a reality check of these half ass messages our successful black figures give us.If y'all don't show us how to get it, someone will. believe dat...

"Selling Cocaine" by Young D Boyz is a beat I stumbled upon by sheer random. When I found it I couldn't believe no 1 has ever done a freestyle over it. Sampling "No More Tears" was a result of not being able to find certain Master P instrumentals but I still wanted that No Limit element part of my mixtape.

Hi Tek's "So Tired" is the only new beat i used,I think its around 06 ish but it still gave that feeling of the good ole days. I purposely was choosing beats without hooks but this one gave me room to get my point across without taking away from the original song. Since Hi Tek's version was recorded like a posse cut I wanted to keep the ball rolling and did my own with S.L.A.S.H.  & Grilly. They came through and killed it.

This was probably the most notable instrumental on the mixtape. 3X Krazy "Keep it on the Real" was a big song back in the day & this was the 1st song that I get to just relax & have fun on.ST 2 Lettaz came through and did his verse and it was a wrap.I did a 2nd verse to it but decided to take it out. Actually, it was quite a few tracks on here that I omitted verses on but Im still happy with the overall turn out.

2pac's "Why U turn on Me" fitted perfect with my song "U Aint Shit". I wrote the song in my head a good 6 years ago while I was visiting Atlanta.I can't remember rhymes i did last night but somehow I was able to remember this almost word for word. I had a small altercation with a friend & a female & blah blah blah just listen 2 the song.

PSK ft.UGK "Like Yesterday"..Now, I wanted to do a lot of songs out of UGK's portfolio but the Respect I have for them & their music made me hesitant to touch it. I got respect for every artist I sampled on my tape but I had to make sure I was not disrespecting the late, great Pimp C in any shape, form, or fashion. "Catch 22" is my favorite song off my tape by the way. When I decided to use it, I already knew G-Mane would be on board. He did everything it needed plus some.
-RIP Pimp C
